HO WAH GENTING BERHAD JOIN FORCES WITH PROPHARM TO BECOME THE EXCLUSIVE SUB-DISTRIBUTOR OF POLIO VACCINE IN MALAYSIA

KUALA LUMPUR, 31 MAY 2021 – Ho Wah Genting Berhad (“HWGB” or the “Company”) (Bursa Stock Code: 9601), through its wholly-owned subsidiary HWGB Biotech Sdn Bhd (“HWGB Biotech”), signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Propharm (M) Sdn. Bhd. (“Propharm”) to establish a basis of co-operation and collaboration between the HWGB Biotech and Propharm for the purposes of appointing HWGB Biotech as the exclusive sub-distributor of Bivalent Oral Poliomyelitis Vaccine Type I and III (“Polio Vaccine”) in Malaysia.
 
Propharm was incorporated in the year 1983 and it is principally involved in the business of importing and distributing pharmaceuticals, druggist, and the dispensing of medicines. Propharm has been marketing and selling various ranges of PALMER’S Skin Care products manufactured by E.T. Browne from the United States of America, to clinics, hospitals, wholesale and chain pharmacies, and also independent retail pharmacies in the west and east Malaysia, for more than 20 years with passion and dedication.
 
Polio, or poliomyelitis, is a crippling and potentially deadly disease caused by the poliovirus. The virus spreads from person to person and can invade an infected person’s brain and spinal cord, causing paralysis.
 
Executive Director of HWGB, Mr Bernard Lim Wee Kiat expressed: “Here in HWGB, we care about the general public health and we consider the collaboration with Propharm is in the best interest of HWGB as this allows us to be appointed as the exclusive sub-distributor of the Polio Vaccine in Malaysia. More importantly, once we are officially appointed, we will able to expedite the distribution of the vaccine to the public”.
