HO WAH GENTING BERHAD TO AID MALAYSIA’S COVID-19 SITUATION WITH THE DISTRIBUTION OF OJABIO ANTIGEN DETECTION KITS

KUALA LUMPUR, 8 JUNE 2021 – Ho Wah Genting Berhad (“HWGB” or the “Company”) (Bursa Stock Code: 9601), through its wholly-owned subsidiary HWGB Biotech Sdn Bhd (“HWGB Biotech”) on 23 November 2020 had been appointed by Wenzhou OJA Biotechnology Co. Ltd.’s (“WOJA”), one of the leading companies certified by China’s Ministry of Commerce, as the distributor of its OJABIO SARS-CoV-2 Antigen Detection Kit (“Antigen Detection Kit”). The Antigen Detection Kit serves as an effective tool to help healthcare teams identify infected individuals and isolate outbreaks.
 
The Antigen Detection Kit directly detect the presence or absence of coronavirus antigen in the patient’s body, generating the results within 15 minutes. It enables fast decision-making of whether an individual needs to be quarantine, hence reducing the risk of further spreading. In addition to that, OJA antigen test kit is a reliable and easy-to-use visual-read test that does not require laboratory instruments or specialized lab personnel to administer. The Antigen Detection Kit will be distributed to the clinics and hospitals and it will be utilize by the authorized healthcare professionals.
 
During various clinical tests, OJA antigen test kit consistently reported accurate results. The independent analysis conducted by the Institute for Medical Research (IMR), Ministry of Health Malaysia had shown the sensitivity of the Antigen Detection Kit to be at 90% while the specificity is at 100%. It is also officially recommended for use by the local Malaysian Medical Devices Authority (MDA).
