Ho Wah Genting Berhad beefs up healthcare business with appointment of pharmacist

KUALA LUMPUR, 30 SEPTEMBER 2020 – Ho Wah Genting Berhad (“HWGB” or the “Company”) (Bursa Stock Code:9601) appointed Encik Shaharuddin bin Abdul Rashid, 48, (“Encik Shaharuddin”) as a pharmacist effective from 30 September 2020.
Encik Shaharuddin is a registered pharmacist with the Pharmacy Board Malaysia and has over 24 years of experience. His experience includes stints as the resident pharmacist and outlet manager of Farmasi Materia Medica and at PharmaCARE Medicine Shoppe. He completed his housemanship as a pharmacist at Hospital Kuala Lumpur. Encik Shaharuddin received his Master of Pharmacy Practice from Universiti Teknologi MARA, a Bachelor of Pharmacy (Hons) from Universiti Sains Malaysia and a Post Graduate Certificate of Teaching Methodology from Asia Metropolitan University. Besides being a registered pharmacist, he is also a life member of the Malaysian Pharmaceutical Society and a member of the Malaysian Diabetes Educators Society.
His interests are in pharmacy practice and management, customer behaviour and health literacy. Chief Executive Officer of HWGB, Dato’ Aaron Lim said: “The appointment of Encik Shaharuddin as a pharmacist underscores the importance of our diversification into the healthcare-related industry that we announced in March this year”.
“His expertise would come in handy given the complexities of the healthcare regulations as he would be expected to keep the Company updated on the regulations surrounding the healthcare supplements and medical devices that we are distributing as well as being the liaison with the regulatory authorities”.
