General Manager, Medical & Pharmaceutical Research of HWGB Biotech, Dr. Yaman Walid Kassab said: “We see a bright future for HWGB Group in healthcare and progressing in this direction".
“The successful application for the Type A Poisons License will certainly be a positive news for us as we can then import and distribute our healthcare products and be in compliance with Malaysian regulations”.
HWGB Biotech Sdn Bhd (“HWGB Biotech”), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Company, had on 3 October 2020, made an online application via Ministry of Health’s My.Pharma-C system for the Type A Poisons License. The license indicates the group’s commitment to the business and at the same time, underscores the huge potential the license can bring to the growth of the business.
As part of the process of building up the healthcare business, HWGB Biotech hired a registered pharmacist, Shaharuddin bin Abdul Rashid (“Shaharuddin”), 48, who in turn has begun the process of obtaining the license.
Under Poison Act 1952, it is stipulated that only a pharmacist registered with the Pharmacy Board of Malaysia or a qualified pharmacist recognised by the state health directors of Sabah or Sarawak is able to apply for such license.
